And what could be more peaceful than listening to the rustle of leaves underfoot while hiking under a colorful canopy of fall colors? Plan a fall stay at Wildwood and unlock the secret treasure chest that is our colorful northern Minnesota landscape.

Drive Through the Autumn Colors

One of the most stunning stretches of fall color is The Edge of the Wilderness National Scenic Byway – Highway 38 which runs 47 miles from Grand Rapids to Effie. MapQuest has referred to the Highway 38 drive as “One of the Best Fall Color Drives in America.” This roadway was designated a National Scenic Byway in 1998 and once you’ve driven it, you’ll understand why. Several turnouts provide access to hiking trails, historic sites and the Chippewa National Forest Fall Color Tour.

Some of the Fall Color points of interest include:

  •  The Joyce Estates, a 1930 circa estate accessible only by foot
  •  The Suomi Hills Recreation Area – a wonderful hiking and biking trail
  •  The Laurentian Divide

It’s a shame to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying at home; so come enjoy the best Minnesota fall color destination! Book a fall family getaway vacation with us at Wildwood Resort. We’re certain you be glad you did.
