Fall Colors & Fall Fishing!

Plan a Fall Getaway to Wildwood! As much as it pains me to say it - summer is almost over. :( We've had an amazing season under the warm, summer sun but all of the sudden the trees are starting to change and everywhere I look I see back-to-school sales or supply lists. Fall sports have started for our oldest who is going to high school this year and the school calendar has already started bossing us around. We have even been ... Read more

Fun, Family, Friends & Fishing!

We Love Summer Vacation! Our summer is fully underway and we are living the high life on the shore of Bass Lake! The weather was more cooperative the last couple of weeks and our guests have taken advantage of it. We LOVE summer so we love seeing people enjoying themselves out fishing or soaking up the sun on our beach. We have a busy life like everyone else so we know how precious time is with family. For that reason it does our hearts good to ... Read more

Minnesota Family Vacation at Wildwood Resort

Summer Vacation is Around the Corner! I am thrilled to tell you that it is officially time to think about the coming summer. We can now safely buy sunscreen, bug spray and swim noodles and, if you haven't done it already, go pull the flip flops out of the bottom of your closet. But even better than all that?! It's DEFINITELY time to start thinking about summer vacation at your favorite Minnesota family resort!   Last Friday was an unseasonably warm 90 degrees here in Grand Rapids and the warm weather really ... March Ice Fishing at Wildwood Resort

The March Bite is On Bass Lake Jay's ice fishing report from Bass Lake: March ice fishing seems to be peaking right now as temperatures climbed to almost 50 degrees over the weekend.  Our guests were able to sit outdoors and fish in only a light sweatshirt or t-shirt.  It was a nice break from sitting in an ice house with the heater going!  Warm temperatures were not only a good morale booster but it allowed folks to move around and try new ... February Ice Fishing at Wildwood Resort

Get Your Bite On - Minnesota Ice Fishing To say that the weather this weekend was a little strange is like saying the Pope is a little Catholic. Friday's warm temperatures would have been odd enough for this time of year but it also rained. It didn't snow and it wasn't even sleeting - it was pouring rain. Needless to say snowmobile conditions have deteriorated. That's the bad news. The more positive news is that snowmobile cancellations have created openings for the ... Read more

Snowmobile Trails & Ice Fishing Report

Bass Lake Ice Fishing Report Ice fishing reports indicate that the bite is hot on Bass Lake! Action is best in the late afternoon hours with most fish being found in about 17' of water. Bite seems to be best from around 3:30 until dark. One local angler told us small jigs tipped with Euro Larvae out-produced waxies roughly 4 to 1. Ice depth is about 12" and we've seen lots of full-sized trucks on the lake. Someone must have plowed a road from the ... Read more

Itasca County Minnesota Snowmobile Trail Report

Grand Rapids, MN Snowmobile Trails We finally got a chance to get our sleds out on the trails yesterday. Our time was limited so we only traveled about 50 miles. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the trails were. There were stretches that were awesome and others where the need for more snow was obvious but overall we had a great day. It felt so good to be out on the trails on a beautiful January day! We took the Bushwacker Trail ... Read more

Wildwood Resort for Your Minnesota Snowmobile Vacation

Snowmobilers, Start Your Engines! We have snow!  Our fervent Christmas wish this year was for cold weather followed by snow. Santa FINALLY came through (I guess our gift was back-ordered?!) with "normal" January temperatures early in the month. Cold temps helped firm up the ice on our end of Bass Lake and helped solidify the swamps enabling the snowmobile clubs to get out and groom. With the latest snowfall current trail conditions range from "fair" to "good" depending on what area you check. Ice depth ... Read more

Minnesota Ice Fishing at Wildwood Resort

Can't Snowmobile? Might as Well Ice Fish! Mother Nature and Old Man Winter have conspired so far to keep snowmobilers waiting on the white stuff. Snowmobile trails in Itasca County aren't open yet due to lack of snowfall but, honestly, we don't think that's such a bad thing right now. With the "warm" winter we've had so far there isn't much ice on some area lakes and the swamps are still too soft for the groomers. What we REALLY need are some ... Read more

Minnesota Winter Vacations at Wildwood Resort

It's Time to Plan a Winter Get-Away Up North! Here we are again at the end of another year. It's hard to believe especially since its mid-December and we are still seeing temps in the 40s during the day. Bass Lake is iced over but we need daytime high temperatures to stay below freezing before we start making any real ice. The nice fall enabled Jay and I to get Wildwood buttoned up for winter without freezing to death while doing it. We ... Read more
